"Survey Says:" Students Benefit from Access to Kuder Career Planning System

A recent survey of over 800 students from seven Sonoma County middle schools suggests that students are “learning about college and career options,” “identifying their interests and skills,” and “planning for the future” thanks to their use of an online career and academic planning tool.
The Kuder Career Planning System (KCPS) was piloted in ten Sonoma County middle schools and five high schools during the 2008-09 school year. A survey of student users conducted in April revealed the following:
-A significant majority of students (68%) believe that the KCPS has helped them identify their interests, skills, and work values.
-An overwhelming majority of students (84%) believe that the KCPS has helped them find information about possible career options.
-A majority of students (53%) believe that the KCPS has helped them find information about colleges and postsecondary training.
-Over one-third of students (36%) believe that the KCPS has helped them find information about scholarships and financial aid.
-A majority of students (57%) believe that the KCPS has helped them develop an educational plan for their future.
